Running up that hill…

Hannah + Ky had a special engagement story: Ky proposed during a sunset picnic at the gorgeous Almscliffe Crag, between Leeds and Harrogate. So it was easy to choose their wedding venue: Almscliffe Valley, with the crag in the background!

In such a stunning setting, the decorations were simple and minimalist. Guests sat on wooden benches decorated with jars of lavender, and the couple walked down an aisle strewn with rose petals. Hannah arrived in Vanessa the camper van, before walking down the aisle with her father to the song, Feels like home by Chantal Kreviazuk.

‘If you like it, then you should put a ring on it!’

So said Ky when asked why he wanted Hannah to marry him! During the ceremony, we heard about Ky’s longstanding crush on the girl with amazing eyes in his Maths class, and the chance encounter on a night out that changed the course of their lives.

Doggy ringbearers

Friends and family took part in the ceremony, with bridesmaids, groomsmen and pageboys adding to the occasion. Furry children and most important family members, Vinnie and Bella, were very excited to carry a ring each and take part in the ring exchange! The pups wore the rings on their collars, tied tightly for safekeeping!

We had a little photo opportunity during the ceremony, to allow guests to capture that first married kiss!

Hannah + Ky signed a ceremony certificate, before walking down the aisle as Mr + Mrs Phelan! Before the ceremony began, confetti had been shared out by some of the younger guests, so everybody was primed to shower the newly weds with flower petals as they left their wedding ceremony. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, this is one of my favourite ways to do the confetti.

While wedding guests enjoyed drinks and garden games, Hannah + Ky snatched a moment to themselves with the pups for a romantic walk up Almscliffe Crag.

Hannah + Ky had a very specific vision: one guest told me they would ‘never have a wedding just like everyone else’s’! So some cool suppliers helped them bring together their laidback festival of a wedding.
